Coins of Uniqueness: The
World Was Created
For Me and You

One of the wonders (and puzzles) of creation is the statement that humans were created in the image of G-d.  The Mishnah points out the divine ability to create many “coins stamped by the same seal,” where each coin is unique and different.

In what ways are we unique and different from each other?

This activity gives you the opportunity to notice and recognize the divine uniqueness in yourself and in the other. It is a great activity to do within a family or with a partner or friend.

You will need:

  • Printouts of the coin sheets for each person participating
  • Scissors
  • Pen or pencil
  • One jar per person participating
  • Permanent markers or glue for decorating the jars

Instructions:

  1. Download the file and print the pages on your printer.
  2. Each person decorates a jar for themselves. They should have their name on the jar and can cut out or copy one of the quotes from the pages.
  3. Cut out the coins along the dotted lines.
  4. Three coins are focused on yourself, and three coins are focused on the other you face (you can choose to do for more than one other).
In the empty spaces, draw or write something that you notice and recognize that is special about yourself and something you see and pay attention to that is unique about the other.
  5. Put the completed coins into the jar of the person they are for — yourself or your other.
